2016 San Diego Regional Recap

The W.A.R. Lords had a record setting competition, winning the Engineering Inspiration award, qualifying for Champs at our first regional, and qualifying for champs at the San Diego Regional, our home regional, all for the first time. The team started the competition off well setting a high score. From there the team continued to improve and ended the first day strong, holding the high score of the day: 115 points. By the end of the qualification matches the team was ranked 28th, and were chosen by the 2nd ranked alliance. The team made it to the semi-finals, but unfortunately lost when the alliance captain’s robot broke during the match. Despite losing, the team didn’t go home empty handed, receiving the Engineering Inspiration Award, which “Celebrates outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within a team’s school and community.” The award not only qualifies the team to go to champs, but also covers the competition entry fee, courtesy of NASA. The team will be travelling up to Orange County for our second regional March 31st through April 2nd, and after that will be going to St. Louis for Champs April 27th through April 30th.
