Team 2485 attended its second regional this year in Las Vegas from April 6th to 9th. On Thursday, our pit team was able to add on a new ground gear intake as well as guides to improve the reliability of our climber. We had some ups and downs with the efficacy of these new additions, and the pit made some ingenuitive fixes on Thursday evening and Friday which allowed for our climber to perform flawlessly during the later qualification matches. Our newly fixed ground intake enabled us to be one of the fastest gear cyclers at the event.
We ended up ranked 39th at the of qualification matches. We accepted the gracious offer of Team 987, the HIGHROLLERS, and Team 5012, Griffingear, to join their alliance. We were eliminated after three close quarterfinal matches. We’d like to congratulate fellow San Diego team and Battle at the Border host, Team 1538, the Holy Cows, as well as Team 1678, the Citrus Circuits, and Team 2637, the Phantom Catz, for their breathtaking win.
Although we didn’t win the regional, Team 2485 certainly did not come home empty handed. We first won the Industrial Safety Award, in part because of our comprehensive Safety 101 and Shop 101, as well as our domain certification program. Additionally, the countless hours of preparation our Chairman’s presenters put in came to fruition with our win of the most prestigious honor at the event, the Regional Chairman’s Award. Our team will be competing in the Roebling division on April 19th – 22th in Houston.
