SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 2020

Updated: Jun 16, 2020

Like everyone else, our team is trying to adjust to the new normal that this pandemic has brought upon us. Our hearts especially go out to the Class of 2020, who were unfairly stripped from a proper closure to their high school careers. We’d like to take a moment to feature our seniors who all made such impactful, lasting contributions to the team that we will cherish forever.

Drew Beamer- Head of Business

Drew served as the head of the Business and Outreach Department this year, taking the leading role in establishing a more efficient system for the team’s evidence documentation. He has also spent the past few years refining the team’s brand standards, making leaps and bounds in our merch designs, website, and just about anything else we brand our team with. He also played an integral role in helping our Chairman’s team succeed this season. Next year, Drew will be attending Davidson College and we are so excited to see him shine.

Cameron Cage- Head of Build

Cameron served as the head of the Build Department this year, after having led the design subdepartment in previous years. He has played a major role in ensuring that the team has a well-structured robot that is ready for assembly, and ultimately the competition field. Next year, Cameron will be attending UC Berkeley and we are so excited to see his future successes. He will be greatly missed!

Nathan Sariowan- Head of Software

Nathan served as the head of the Software and Strategy Department this year. Over the summer, he led a department-wide restructuring of the software sub-department, allowing every member of the department to learn and make meaningful contributions to the robot throughout the entire season. Next year, Nathan will be attending Stanford University and we are delighted to see what’s next in store for him!

Aidan Bell

Aidan has played a key role in connecting the three FIRST programs on campus: FLL, FTC, and FRC. He not only contributed to the W.A.R. Lords’ success, but also was extremely involved with FTC team 10092, the Green Griffins. Next year, Aidan will be attending UCSD, and we are so excited for what the future holds for him.

Rohin Buch

Rohin was a part of the Business and Outreach department, serving as the head of our social media platforms this year. He has played a great role in helping our Chairman’s team prepare and succeed, taking on one of the leading roles as a presenter last year. Rohin will be attending the University of St. Andrews this fall, and we cannot wait to see him shine!

Maria Burritt

Maria was a part of the Business and Outreach department, leading the Chairman’s team this year. Her charismatic spirit, coupled with her incredible ability to write and present allowed the team to have a very successful Chairman’s outing at the Del Mar Regional. Next year, Maria will be attending Loyola University Chicago, and we are so excited to see her succeed in her future endeavours!

Nico Khoury

Nico was a part of the Build department, as well as the Design subdepartment during his time on the team. He not only contributed to the team with his robot assembly and scouting efforts, but was also unparalleled in bringing spirit to the team at competitions. This fall, Nico will be attending the University of Michigan, and we are delighted to see where his future takes him!

Pallavi Murthy

Pallavi was the head of WOW this year, leading the program to renew its sponsorship with Qualcomm, as well as gaining new chapters in efforts to continue expanding. Her consistent, organized leadership provided a great example for the team’s underclassmen to keep this successful program running in future years. Pallavi will be attending UC Berkeley this fall, and we are so excited to see what the future holds for her!

Ranger Norton

Ranger was a part of the Build department this year, also serving the role of human player in the drive team. His relentless dedication to the team throughout the entire season was appreciated by all- the mechanical aspects of Artemis were so solid! Next year, Ranger will be attending California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo. We cannot wait to see him shine!

Ashwin Rhodes

Ashwin has served as the head of sponsorship for the past few seasons, securing a great number of sponsors to support our team every year. He played a major role in organizing our inaugural end-of-build-season celebration, gathering students, mentors, parents, and sponsors for a grand gathering. Next year, Ashwin will be attending Claremont McKenna College, and we are so excited to see what his future holds.

Charles Tobin

Charles was a part of the Build department, also serving in various roles of the drive team for the past few seasons. He has also been a mentor for our school’s four FLL teams, leading them to the SoCal Championships on multiple occasions. His dedication allowed our team to have one of the most successful outings we’ve ever had at a regional, and we are so grateful for that. Next year, Charles will be attending Lehigh University, and we are so excited for him.
